Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 October 2026BangBangKan is operated by Ascenny
This policy explains what personal data BangBangKan collects, why, who can see it, where it is kept and for how long, and how you can see, correct and delete it.
We handle personal data under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 and Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012. By signing up for or using BangBangKan, you agree to us handling your data as this policy describes.
Contents (13 sections)
1. Who we are
BangBangKan (bangbangkan.com) is a site where posters ask local helpers to view rental homes for them. It is operated by Ascenny; “we” and “us” in this policy means Ascenny.
For anything about your personal data, email hello@bangbangkan.com.
2. What we collect
We only collect what we need to run BangBangKan. We don't collect ID numbers, and we don't collect bank or card details (BangBangKan never handles money).
- Account: your email, your password (Supabase Auth keeps only a hashed version, so no one can read the original), name, WhatsApp number, WeChat ID (optional), profile picture (optional: a photo you upload or one of our puppy pictures), site language, whether email notifications are on, and when you agreed to which version of the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
- Posts: the title, country, state or planning area, area, viewing dates, viewing fee, what to check, property type, bedrooms, monthly rent and listing photos, plus the full address and the listing link.
- Offers and deals: the price and message of each offer, when deals are made, finished or cancelled, and the reason for cancelling.
- Reviews and reports: the stars and comments you give, and the reports you send (reason and note).
- Searches and alerts: when you are logged in, the words and filters of your last 10 searches, and the new-post alerts you set (up to 5).
- Notifications: notifications on the site, and a record of the emails we send you (for example, what was sent and whether it went out).
- Usage records: an anonymous visitor ID (kept in a cookie), the pages you visit, which button you press on the welcome page, how long you stay (recorded every 30 seconds while the tab is open and in view), the site or campaign link you came from (including utm tags), whether you use a phone, tablet or computer, the site language, and the country and city worked out from your IP address. We don't store your full IP address; to stop people flooding us with fake records, we keep a scrambled (hashed) form of it for 2 hours to count requests, then delete it. When you are logged in, these records are linked to your account.
- Admin records: the records and notes admins make when they handle reports, take down content or suspend accounts.
- Emails to us: your email address and what you write to hello@bangbangkan.com.
- Cookies and browser storage: see Cookies and browser storage.
Chats on WhatsApp or WeChat after a deal don't go through BangBangKan. We can't see them and don't keep them.
3. Why we use it
- To run the matching: so you can post, make offers, make and cancel deals and leave reviews, and so both sides get each other's contact details after a deal.
- To show posts and profiles: so others can see posts, names, pictures, ratings and public reviews.
- To send notices: on the site and by email, about new offers, being chosen, cancelled deals, finished viewings, reviews to write and new posts for your alerts; and system emails such as confirming your email or resetting your password.
- To keep people safe: to handle reports, take down content that breaks the rules, suspend accounts, and prevent scams and misuse.
- To understand and improve the site: to see how many people use it and how, and what isn't working well.
- For business reporting: for example, numbers of users and deals to show partners, using only figures that don't name anyone.
- To reply to you: to answer your questions and requests.
We never sell your personal data, and we don't use it for advertising or for anything unrelated to the purposes above.
4. Who can see what
- Everyone, even when logged out: a post's public details (not the full address or the listing link), the names, profile pictures, ratings and public reviews of posters and helpers, and profile pages (join date and how many viewings someone has done).
- The other person in your deal: after a deal, the two of you see each other's WhatsApp number and WeChat ID (if given), and the chosen helper sees the full address and the listing link. No one else sees these.
- The poster: sees the offers on their own post (price, message, time and the name of the person offering). Everyone else only sees how many offers a post has, not the amounts or who made them.
- Your email and reports: your email address is never shown to other users, and the person you report never learns it was you.
- Admins: to run and moderate the site, admins can see all data, and can take down posts, remove pictures and reviews, and suspend accounts. Every admin action is logged.
Apart from this and the services in the next section, we only give data to the authorities when the law requires it.
If BangBangKan is ever sold or merged with another company, your data will pass to the new operator, who must keep protecting it under this policy. Before that happens we will announce it on the site or email you, and you can delete your account first.
5. Services that process data for us
We use these services to run BangBangKan, and they process data on our behalf:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage (including photos), in Singapore.
- Vercel: hosting, with servers in Singapore and a worldwide network (CDN) that delivers the pages. Vercel Web Analytics gives us overall visit numbers without using cookies.
- Resend: sending email, from Tokyo.
- Cloudflare: our domain and DNS, and forwarding email sent to hello@bangbangkan.com to our support inbox.
- Gmail: our support inbox.
This means your data may be processed and stored outside your country, for example in Singapore, Japan and wherever else these services operate.
6. How long we keep it
- Account details, posts, offers, deals and reviews: for as long as your account exists, so you and the people you dealt with can see the history. For what happens when you delete your account, see Deleting your account.
- Recent searches: only your last 10; older ones are removed automatically. When you are logged out, recent searches stay only in your browser until you clear them.
- Alerts and notifications: alerts until you delete them or your account; notifications until you delete your account.
- Reports: until the person who reported, or the person reported, deletes their account.
- Admin records: the log of admin actions is kept long term for safety, and once a person deletes their account it no longer contains their details. Admin notes about a person are deleted with their account.
- Usage records: kept long term to run and improve the service and for business reporting. After you delete your account, they are no longer linked to you.
- Emails to us: kept in our support inbox so we can follow up.
8. Your choices and rights
- See and correct: view and change your name, WhatsApp number, WeChat ID, profile picture and site language on the “Me” page.
- Turn off emails: switch off all notification emails on the “Me” page. System emails, such as confirming your email or resetting your password, are still sent.
- Clear searches and alerts: clear your recent searches, and turn off or delete alerts, on the search page.
- Withdraw consent: you can withdraw your consent to us handling your data at any time. BangBangKan needs this data to work, so this usually means deleting your account.
- Delete your account: see Deleting your account below.
- Ask for a copy or a correction: to get a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or to correct something you can't change yourself (such as your email), email hello@bangbangkan.com from the address you signed up with. We reply within 21 days.
If you aren't happy with how we handled your request, you can also complain to Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Commissioner or Singapore's Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC).
9. Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself at the bottom of the “Me” page. You'll be asked to type a confirmation first. Deleting can't be undone. A banned account can't delete itself; email hello@bangbangkan.com instead.
If you have a deal in progress (a helper has been chosen and the viewing isn't finished), finish or cancel it first.
When you delete your account, we delete:
- your name, WhatsApp number, WeChat ID and profile picture;
- the email and password you sign in with;
- your posts that never had a deal, and their photos;
- your offers that are still waiting;
- your recent searches, alerts and notifications;
- the reviews others wrote about you;
- reports you made, reports made about you, and notes admins wrote about you.
These stay:
- Reviews you wrote for others stay, shown under “Deleted user”.
- Finished or cancelled deals (and their posts) stay in the other person's history, without your details.
- Usage records stay, but are no longer linked to you.
- The log of admin actions is kept for safety, without your details.
You can sign up again later with the same email, as a brand-new account.
10. Keeping your data safe
- Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
- The database has access rules, so each person can only read what they are allowed to see. Contact details, full addresses and listing links are only shared with the two people in a deal.
- Passwords are stored only in hashed form.
- Only admins can open the admin portal, and every admin action is logged.
No system is perfectly secure. Keep your password safe, and if you think something is wrong with your account, change your password and email us. If a data breach affects your data, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
11. People under 18
BangBangKan is only for people aged 18 or older, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If we find that someone under 18 has signed up, we will suspend the account. If you are a parent or guardian and think your child has signed up, please email us.
12. Changes and languages
We may update this policy. When we do, the “Last updated” date at the top changes. For important changes, we will let you know on the site or by email. If you keep using BangBangKan after an update, you accept the new policy.
This policy is written in Chinese and English. If the two versions differ, the English version prevails.
